What do you think of Dear Toronto?

Dear Toronto

After about a month or so, we’ve got 8 episodes posted at Dear Toronto with many more on the way over the next while. We’re going to try to stick to a release schedule of one episode minimum per week.

So I wanted to start a bit of a dialogue and get some feedback from you. What you think of the video we’ve posted so far? The content? The style of production? Our delivery formats? What would you like to see more/less of?

We’ve got a lot of ideas on how to improve things going forward, and changes in how we edit and produce video, but I’m interested in hearing some objective opinions. Sound off in the comments of this post.

Hey, I found Dear Toronto via Twitter. I live in the States, but I’ve been to Toronto a few times. It’s probably my all-time favorite city. I’ve only seen three casts so far– Night of Fire, Freestyle Photoshoot, and Atomic Cherries. I definitely like what you guys are doing.

Here’s my feedback…I liked the format of Night of Fire the best. Music, History of event from event person, interviews with event attendees. I think it would have been cooler to interview two different groups of people. I preferred that format because it gave me a better idea of what the event is like. I know what to expect, if I want to go next year, and I can talk about the event with my friends without doing any extra research.

The intros to all three videos were awesome. I enjoyed the music best in Night of Fire, because it was background music. Night of Fire still would have been interesting to watch even without the music, whereas the other two were driven by the music.

Personally, I think it would be cool if you guys were in the podcasts more. I’ve noticed that I return to my favorite podcasts again and again because of the hosts’ personalities. Every once in awhile a cast topic may fall flat, but the host’s personality rarely does. And you all seem like a fun group of people.

Lastly, most importantly, I think you should list the events that you’re planning on going to on your site. Hearing about an awesome, yearly, worth-traveling-for event a month after it happens kind of sucks. You could maybe list upcoming events underneath each video for those that subscribe to the blog. You’d be helping out the event planners by pimping their event, and maybe in turn they’ll help you out by answering a few questions. And, some Dear Toronto fans might show up at an event, see a guy with a camera/mike, and run over to answer some questions. Fun all around.

Note: Sorry this comment is so long. I get carried away with the feedback sometimes.

Thanks for the great comments, Tanya. I’m going to add an events listing that we’re planning to shoot.

We’re talking about going the audio podcast route, so thanks for the suggestion there as well :)

    Cheers,
    Adam.

Looking forward to watching the Metronauts episode backed by an ABBA soundtrack. Loser. :P

Another suggestion… release new vids during the week. Weekends are light on net traffic in general and releases would likely have more impact/reach when we’re all in front of our computers rather then playing outside :)
