When editor in chief of Engadget Peter Rojas announced he’d be starting up his own record label, I was a little skeptical. Peter’s clearly a smart guy; He’s established one of the most successful blogs on the Internet, and has always been a huge proponent of fair use and an advocate for open, well-designed platforms. That being said, it was a bit of a hard sell to think he could make the move across industries.

I’m glad to say that I was totally wrong. His new record label, RCRD LBL has been providing free, legal downloads of some amazing releases over the past month or so, as well as tracks from new, independent artists that have just blown me away. Try Simian Mobile Disco’s Hustler Skatebard remix, Metric’s Monster Hospital, and a little bit of D.A.N.C.E. by Justice with Mos Def.
