There's a little slideshow about user experience and the iPhone as an example over at GoodExperience.com today. They make a great point about features not being the iPhone's raison d'etre, and that in fact the features it provides are pre-existing, and fairly basic. Recycle Can for your PC Writing | (3)
The Tempo is a concept storage device that will copy any file you delete from your PC or Mac and hold on to it until you choose to purge it. A ring of LEDs along the side light up to indicate the capacity, negating the need for a software interface of any kind, and it comes shaped like a small trash can. I love this because it's one of those things that would have yielded zero attention if it weren't for its clever design and user experience. [via Engadget]

Last.fm Tag Radio Uncategorized | (0)
Today on Last.fm's blog they talk about tag radio and illustrate why I love the service so much. You can tag any song you're listening to with anything you'd like, and not just limited to genres either. As Elias mentions in his post, there's some great tags that will suit the time of day, or environment you're in, like wake up, breakfast and coffee break radio. Holes in the User’s Experience Uncategorized | (0)
Here's something that I've experienced quite a bit that UIE's Jared Spool points out quite astutely: The vendor tells me my package is on the way, but the shipper disavows any knowledge of it. The product (already paid for) is in some sort of shipping limbo, which is exactly what the tracking system was put on earth to avoid. A hole in the user's experience.
