Typically I've used cardio and exercise as a means of stress relief, but I've discovered over the last little while that making a nicely paced photo run works just as well. The series of photos that I shot this one in was during that beautiful 'golden light' about 1-2 hours before sunset. It's amazing the difference it can make when shooting an hour or two earlier or later than your typical time.

First Impressions: Package and Product Info Design Writing | (4)
Seagate's new external hard drive line, FreeAgent, has caught my eye more than once in newspaper ads and in stores. Not only is the design of the hard drive itself beautiful, but the product packaging goes leaps and bounds ahead of its competition. Apparently their instructions and quick start guide [via 37signals] inside the box maintain that standard. Is this important to the customer? Absolutely. This is something that Apple seemingly pulls off effortlessly, but there's a lot to be said for those first impressions. I have a bit of a thing for undertaking oddball gardening/DIY projects, and after engorging on the deliciousness that was this avocado, I stumbled across the unexpectedly large pit. It looked as though it had growth potential, and through a bit of research (well, one Google search and picking the first result) I came across GardenWeb's instructions, which seem to be written for children. .flickr-photo { border: solid 2px #000000; } .flickr-yourcomment { } .flickr-frame { text-align: left; padding: 3px; } .flickr-caption { font-size: 0.8em; margin-top: 0px; } One of the stops in last weekend's roadtrip was Gananoque, home to the famous 1000 Islands (yes, the namesake of the salad dressing) where houses are built on practically all of the available land on the tiny islands. The architecture of these houses was fascinating, as was the creative use of land for docks, boathouses, and the like. While properties weren't built on every island, I couldn't help but feel like this whole community is an absolute domination of the environment.

You know, there's few times where I really get excited when I come across new music, but I really couldn't contain myself when I heard the Lily Allen/Mark Ronson cover of the Kaiser Chiefs' Oh My God on last.fm yesterday. Mark Ronson's album, Version, released back in April, does some big band covers of pop songs, among them, Coldplay's God Put a Smile On Your Face, The Smiths' Stop Me (feat. Daniel Merriweather), Radiohead's Just (feat. Phantom Planet) and even Britney Spears' Toxic (feat. Tiggers).
