Tumblelogging
This week I came across the concept of the Tumblelog, a variation on the traditional blog where the idea is you post extremely short snippets of text, mixed media (image, video, etc.) or quotes with little to no commentary (see Projectionist for an example). Tumblr now offers free Tumblelog hosting and creation, much in the same way that Wordpress does for traditional blogs. They explain Tumblelogs by saying that tumblelogs are analogous to scrapbooks as blogs are to journals. This seems like a great blogging format for posting from mobile devices, where typing can often be cumbersome and tedious, but snapping a picture or video and sending it off can be done in seconds. It also seems like a natural way for someone new to blogging to jump in head-first, and just post whatever comes to mind.
